15 April 2013: Blackthorn Blossoms

I think this is a blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), one of the first to flower on Hampstead Heath, at the bottom of Upper Cohen's Field.

14 March 2013: Early Spring Blossom at the Viaduct Pond

This tree, next to the path at the southern edge of the Viaduct Pond, is slowly coming into blossom. I think it is a cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera) - the blackthorn shrubs (Prunus spinosa) are not yet flowering.
