9 November 2013: East Heath Lodge

Pryors Field

East Heath Lodge, seen from Pryors Field. These houses on what is now East Heath Road were built in the late 18th century, on land that was part of Hampstead Heath once (like much of Hampstead Village). The village was not expanded beyond this point, and later both Pryors Field and Preacher's Hill, the open land on the other side of East Heath Road, were preserved by the Hampstead Heath Act 1871.

29 September 2013: Pink Michaelmas Daisies

Michaelmas Daisies

Pink and white Michaelmas Daisies are growing on Pryors Field. They look pretty here, but they are an invasive species, kept under control to not spread further.

Michaelmas Daisies on Pryors Field

Pink Michaelmas daisies are now flowering on Pryors Field. They're considered an invasive non-native species, but their little pink flowers look pretty regardless.

...and now it is Summer

Upper Cohen's Field, Hampstead Heath

And this morning, it even felt like summer! I went out onto the Heath with my camera for the first time in months, and summer had arrived. Here are three photos to make up for the lack of photos in the last months (and the lack of summer in England this year).

16 September 2011: Pryors Field

Pryors Field

Pryors Field takes its name from the Pryor family, who had a house here on the Lower Heath. Two apartment buildings called The Pryors stand on its site now, one of which can be seen in this picture.

See on the map where this picture was taken.
